About Us

On Weldon Road in Oak Ridge, the Jefferson Township Public Library has quietly become one of the most genuinely useful places in Morris County. It earns a 4.7-star rating not because it's flashy, but because the staff actually knows your name, remembers what you checked out last time, and has already set aside something you'd probably enjoy.

The space itself is small by big-city standards, but that's the point. High ceilings and an open floor plan make it feel airy rather than cramped, and every corner has been thought through: a children's section stocked with educational toys and coloring stations, a curated adult collection that spans literary fiction to local history, and comfortable spots to simply sit and read without anyone rushing you along.

What keeps residents coming back is the programming. From toddler story time to adult book clubs, the library runs activities across every age group, and, as more than one regular will tell you, it's all completely free. That's the quiet promise of Jefferson Township Public Library: a place that gives more than it asks.

What We Offer

The library's collection covers the full spectrum of reading life. Children's materials range from board books for toddlers through middle-grade novels, complemented by age-appropriate magazines, puzzles, and hands-on learning toys that make the library a destination rather than just a stop. Adults will find a well-balanced mix of fiction, nonfiction, large-print titles, and periodicals.

Beyond books, the library offers digital resources including e-books and online databases accessible with your library card, plus public computers for residents who need them. Community programs run year-round, including reading challenges, craft workshops, and author events. The knowledgeable staff regularly curates personalized reading suggestions, so if you're stuck in a reading rut, just ask.

All services are available free of charge to Jefferson Township cardholders, making this one of the best no-cost resources in Oak Ridge, NJ and the surrounding communities.

"The Jefferson Township Library is an excellent balance of children's and adult books. The selections vary from toddler books, magazines appropriate to age, centers for coloring and educational toys to educational classes. On the adult side, there are computers, exercise and educational classes and language classes. I was featured as an adult township artist of the month and it was a great opportunity through JAC for exposure and discuss my joy of being creative and artistic. I enjoy visiting the library and look forward to future opportunities."

"Typical small town library with limited selection but helpful staff and useful online services. It's unfortunate that we (Jefferson township citizens) don't take advantage of these free services, especially the online services."
